Timeline: How Haarlemmers fight for their voice in the battle for parking spaces

It took quite a while, but Haarlem residents can now give their opinion on the introduction of paid parking in eleven residential areas on March 6. They had to fight hard for that right.

Petitions, objections and even going to court had to be involved to give the people of Haarlem a voice. The municipality believes that the parking pressure has become so great that the government should be able to make a decision without a referendum. With some grumbling, the city council ultimately agreed to the referendum.
