There were serious clashes between fans of both teams before the Bundesliga game between FSV Mainz 05 and FC Augsburg. According to the police, up to 100 people fought a mass brawl on Saturday afternoon.
According to initial findings, the police assume an agreed action and classify the act as a serious breach of the peace. The emergency services, alerted via the emergency call, detained a total of 36 people involved – 28 of them with a connection to Augsburg – and determined their identities. All people were expelled from the city of Mainz.
The game in Mainz was not directly affected by the brawl. The game started on time.
