After the end of the Asian Cup, there will be another change among the national coaches of the participating nations after Jürgen Klinsmann at South Korea. Tajikistan has to look for a new coach, albeit rather involuntarily. The German-Croatian Petar Segrt is not extending his expiring contract. The 57-year-old’s commitment was a success story. He led the Tajiks to the finals of the Asian Cup for the first time and made it to the quarter-finals with his team on their debut.
“The time in Tajikistan was incredible for me, I was particularly touched by the pictures from Tajikistan during the Asian Cup. Nobody really paid us. Participation in itself was a great success for us. When we got through the group stage it was celebrated as if we had won the Asian Cup final. Despite this wonderful experience, I have decided that I now need a break to recharge my batteries,” Segrt told Transfermarkt.
