Two people were injured in a shooting at Purmerend train station this evening. Both victims were taken to hospital in serious condition. The perpetrator is still on the run.
The first report of the shooting incident was made at 8:05 p.m. Several emergency services were deployed to the victims. One of them was resuscitated on the spot. Both injured people were then transported to hospital.
Massive search
The police have launched a large-scale search to find the perpetrator. Specialist dogs and a police helicopter have also been deployed for this purpose. No clear description has yet been shared.
Due to the shooting incident, no trains can stop to and from Purmerend. The NS expects this to last until 11 p.m.
