Merel Ek is again arguing with Dilan Yesilgöz, Mark Rutte’s successor as political leader of the VVD. Is her critical attitude commendable or not? “She must be on her period!”
When Dilan Yesilgöz arrives at work and Merel Ek is waiting for her, the leader of the VVD knows one thing for sure: it will not be a pleasant conversation. The reporter for Hart van Nederland and Today Inside believes that Dilan does not provide concrete answers and does not hide her annoyance about this.
Merel vs Dilan
Merel has already had a big fight with Dilan, and yesterday it happened again. “Merel and Yesilgöz: is that a good thing now? They have had a lot of arguments in recent weeks. Is the weather good?”, asks Wilfred Genee in the Today Inside from last night.
Political reporter Sam Hagens said: “It still continues a bit. Today was also about what their position is and how they want to proceed. Do they want to be in a cabinet or not? Merel at the Council of Ministers means a beef with Dilan.”
Wilfred: “Oh dear, not again.”
Not on camera
We then see Dilan answer in front of Merel’s camera. “I will never discuss what all the scenarios and options are in front of a camera.”
Merel irritated, pointing to the first day of exploration when Dilan indicated that he only wanted to tolerate: “Well, you did that right on the first day of the exploration.”
Dilan: “I indicated my commitment and then we entered a phase that was not about form, but about perspective. That stopped abruptly and we now have to complete it first.”
Merel irritated: “Now let’s ask about your commitment: what is your commitment now?”
Not fair and open
Dilan looks less and less amused. “My commitment has still not changed, because we never discussed the form. That is not part of it and I am certainly not going to do that in front of your camera. You can ask, but I’m not going to do it.”
Merel: “But this is very lame, because at the beginning you played a political game, which you apparently don’t want to play anymore, so then you don’t say anything in front of the camera anymore.”
Dilan: “Those are your qualifications and I don’t think that is a very fair and open question anyway, but those are your qualifications.”
Merel: “Well, you don’t want to answer.”
“She’s on her period!”
Wilfred is quite shocked by Merel’s attitude. “I don’t believe that only Anouk has her period,” he says, referring to the singer who suddenly posts photos of her period and insults trans people.
Johan Derksen: “You’re really ashamed of that Merel, aren’t you?”
René van der Gijp laughing: “You’re going to be ashamed that that’s part of the program, man!”
Hélène Hendriks: “No, Merel, well done!”
Sam: “Great.”
