Joop van den Ende gets a good slap on the fingers from Tina Nijkamp. The ratings authority believes that the TV billionaire is playing down the misconduct in the media world far too much.
It is incredibly disturbing to Tina Nijkamp that Joop van den Ende said in Humberto Tan’s talk show that the television profession is ‘smeared’ by revelations about inappropriate behaviour. Joop is in the news because of an exhibition about his career, but at the presentation he was only asked about Matthijs van Nieuwkerk.
Wet blanket
Not surprising: Matthijs is the favorite of MediaLane, the company of Joop’s daughter. And because of that financial interest, we continuously hear Joop standing up for the fallen TV star in the media. “I only know Matthijs as a very nice, sweet and pleasant man,” he said again at Humberto.
Joop is disappointed that the exhibition about his career is now so overshadowed by all those TV scandals. “Dozens of people have been working on this for two to three years and now it is being tarnished by this situation. A wet blanket is thrown over it.”
Tina critical
TV authority Tina does not think the words used by Joop are normal. “Well, that’s a bit of a strange choice of words. ‘Smeared’ seems like it was an isolated incident. But ahem… three out of four people had to deal with misconduct at the NPO last year. It just turns out to be a very big problem unfortunately,” she wrote analysis channel.
She continues: “Also remarkable: Joop thinks that HIS exhibition is smeared, there was ‘a wet blanket over it’. And he didn’t want to talk about ‘victims’, because ‘those are people who are on fire’ or ‘experience an earthquake’. Oh okay?!”
Powerful man
Tina believes that Joop, as a powerful media magnate, should give a little more recognition to the victims in the TV world. “Fact: Joop has been a billionaire for 23 years, has many NPO protégés who only make TV with his family business (Matthijs, Ivo, Eva, Paul, Simone and André) and is good friends with a number of very powerful people at the Media Park.”
She continues: “His family also has a powerful TV company: MediaLane, which is probably referred to in the Van Rijn report and is under fire when it comes to unclear salary structures with presenters. Joop is 82 years old but still pulls a lot of strings in the TV world. #power.”
