Despite the ruling of the arbitration committee in which it became clear that Team Jonk will receive money from FC Volendam, there was no jubilant mood among Wim Jonk. The former technical director and former coach of the team from Vissersdorp thought it was a painful day: “We could have resolved it much earlier by talking to adults.”
It is not yet known exactly how much team Jonk will receive. At the start of the arbitration case, lawyer Steven Palm of FC Volendam said that team Jonk’s claim could run into millions. Wim Jonk himself does not understand those amounts: “What I hear in the village. The amounts are shocking.” Jonk refers to the realm of fables that the club will be destroyed by the statement: “That is the frame that is being created here. It puts people in a bad light, which is painful,” says Jonk.
Successes
Team lawyer Jonk Joost Quant finds it painful how the situation turned out: “So many successes have been achieved together with this club. Eighteen months after promotion, we are here like this. That really wasn’t necessary,” Quant analyzes. FC Volendam did not want to respond after the committee’s ruling.
