DFB asks Waldhof Mannheim to pay

Third division club Waldhof Mannheim has been fined in two cases by the sports court of the German Football Association (DFB) after racist comments made by its fans. Including further misconduct by their supporters, such as setting off pyrotechnics in five cases, the Electoral Palatinate must pay a total of 33,120 euros.

At the beginning of August, a Mannheim supporter became conspicuous with discriminatory statements and gestures in the away game at 1860 Munich. In October, a spectator racially insulted an opposing player at the game at Rot-Weiss Essen. Both people were later identified by police.

Waldhof can use up to 7,000 euros of the fine for security or violence prevention measures and 4,000 euros for measures against racism and discrimination.

Second division Hertha BSC also costs dearly for the misconduct of its fans. Before the DFB Cup game against Hamburger SV, Berlin fans lit four smoke pots and twelve so-called flashers, and they also shot six fireworks batteries with five flares each. The fine amounts to a total of 39,600 euros.
