The house in Muiderberg where a record amount of ketamine was found at the beginning of this year will remain locked for at least another three months. This was decided by Mayor Han ter Heegde of Gooise Meren. The mayor hopes that this measure will restore peace to the street.
During the raid on Googweg early this year, the police found no less than 2,000 kilos of ketamine, the largest seizure ever in the Netherlands. The drugs have a total street value of approximately 55 million euros. In addition to the ketamine, several kilos of hard drugs were found.
The raid did not go unnoticed on the relatively quiet street. A large group of heavily armed officers stormed the house in the evening.
House closed
A day after the raid, Mayor Han ter Heegde decided to seal the house. So now it has been decided that the house must remain locked until the end of April and cannot be used in any way.
By closing the house, drug trafficking is no longer possible at that address and ‘the walk’ to the building disappears. This should restore peace. The mayor also hopes to send the signal that the possession and trafficking of large quantities of drugs will not be tolerated by the municipality.
