Japan, three areas with new restrictions
Japan has approved new restrictions against Covid in three southwestern areas hit hard by the virus: Okinawa, Yamaguchi and Hiroshima. The authorities fear that hospitals will soon be under pressure given the sudden increase in cases. Locally it was decided to close restaurants first and not to serve alcohol. The measures will last until the end of the month. It is not the first time that Japan has experienced restrictions, the last set of provisions to this effect was canceled in September.

Germany, today summit to decide on vaccination obligation
Chancellor Olaf Scholz and the premieres of the 16 German landers are meeting today to discuss new containment measures against the spread of the Omicron variant. On the eve of the videoconference, which will begin shortly after noon, the Minister of Health has proposed new restrictions to reduce contact between people. The idea did not agree with the Bavarian premier Markus Söder, for whom the current situation does not justify further restrictions. Among the measures that will be evaluated today there is also the obligation to vaccinate.

80.70% of Italians over the age of 5 are vaccinated
78.53% of the population completed the primary vaccination course. 3.56% are waiting for a second dose. 36.84% made the third dose. Overall – including the single-dose and pre-infected who received a dose – 82.09% of the Italian population is at least partially protected. Considering only the over 5, subject of the vaccination campaign, compared to the government audience the percentage of at least partially protected is 84.36% while 80.70% are vaccinated. Considering only the over 12, subject of the vaccination campaign, compared to the audience identified by the extraordinary Commissioner for the Covid-19 emergency, the percentage of at least partially protected is 89.22% while 86.16% are vaccinated.
