Is the successful coach now ending his career?

Jürgen Klopp is leaving Liverpool FC. Six months ago he already spoke about the time afterwards – and made a few things clear.

Jürgen Klopp already gave information about what happens afterwards in a podcast six months ago. At “Hotel Matze” the 56-year-old said: “After Liverpool, the plan, whenever that is, I have a contract until 2026, is to take a year off. It may be that it’s over then, but who knows “How do I feel after a year off? So I’m leaving the door open.”

At the same time, the devout Christian emphasized that an end to his career is conceivable for him: “But I really wouldn’t have a problem saying it was great and now everyone else can do it. That’s my more likely solution. But I can only say what it will be like , when I had a year off because I hadn’t had that yet.”

This also corresponds to the statements that Klopp made in his statement to the Liverpool fans: “If you ask me: Will you ever work as a coach again? Right now I would say: No. But obviously I don’t know how “It’s going to feel like this because I’ve never experienced this situation before.”

The only thing that is clear is that he will no longer coach any other club in England. “One hundred percent. That’s not possible. My love for the club, my respect for the people is so great that I couldn’t do that,” said Klopp.

“That’s it for now”

It is not the first time that Klopp has spoken about a long break after his end at Liverpool. As early as 2018, he said in an interview with the TV channel Sky: “After Liverpool, I will definitely take a year off, that is a clear agreement with my family. From today’s perspective, it is not impossible that I will then say: ‘That has It was really fun now.'”

At that time too, he hinted at a possible end to his career: “It’s really not out of the question that I’ll say, ‘That’s it,’ much earlier than coaches normally do.” I feel that it’s super intense and I don’t plan on going over the Wupper in the dugout.”

Four more titles to look at

Klopp is considered an emotional, passionate coach. This can also be seen on the sidelines, where the successful German coach rarely stays calm and cheers along with his team. This intense style demands a lot of energy, which already exhausted him in Dortmund.

His departure from BVB was followed by a statement that was made in consultation with his advisor: “After seven intense and emotional years of ‘real love’, I think it makes sense to process the countless memories before I start a fresh and highly motivated team with my coaching team take on a new task.”

But the break wasn’t too long. Around four months later he signed for Liverpool FC. It was the beginning of a special and successful time in which Klopp won the English championship, the Champions League and the English Cup with the “Reds”, among other things.

Next summer the time will be over. Klopp has the chance to win up to four more titles with Liverpool. The team from Anfield Road is currently in first place in the Premier League, and Liverpool is already in the round of 16 in the Europa League. In the FA Cup on Sunday against second division team Norwich City, victory in the 4th round is on the line and in the League Cup, Liverpool will face Chelsea FC in the final at the end of February.
