At the annual Swedish sports gala, Idrottsgalan, a discus thrower Daniel Ståhl won Svenska Dagbladet’s bragdguld award. Awarded since 1925, the medal is awarded to the “Swedish sporting achievement of the year”.

According to Aftonbladet, both Ståhl and many of the audience burst into tears during Laakso’s speech. Then we saw a warm hug on the Friends arena stage.
Last summer’s WC hockey final in Budapest was memorable. Kristjan Ceh managed a throw that reached 70.02 meters, but Ståhl got past with his last throw. The ferocious lunge reached 71.46 meters, which is the all-time highest puck arc in the prestigious competition.
With that, Ståhl became a two-time world champion.
