Torsten Lieberknecht from Bundesliga football club SV Darmstadt 98 demanded full commitment from his team in the Hessenderby against Eintracht Frankfurt.
Lieberknecht wants to see a “derby atmosphere on the pitch”. “For that to happen, there has to be some noise on the pitch,” said the 50-year-old at the press conference before the game on Saturday (3.30 p.m./Sky).
“Even though we are bottom of the table, we have total confidence in the boys’ ability to perform,” said Lieberknecht, who is still without playmaker Marvin Mehlem due to a broken fibula. Mehlem is scheduled to return to team training next week.
There is hope for a comeback from Fabian Nürnberger, who recently had to take a break due to an ankle injury. “He’s back in team training and he’s pain-free, but we still have to wait for him on Friday,” said the Lilien coach. Darmstadt has been waiting for a win for ten league games.
