WEATHER FORECAST. Possible winter showers in the northwest
This morning it is still snowing south of Sambre and Meuse with a heavily cloudy sky. Broad clear skies are expected elsewhere, but some (winter) showers are possible in the northwest of the country. By the end of the morning the disruption will definitely leave our country towards Germany.
In the afternoon It will also be dry in the southeast with sunny periods, but in the northwest of the country there remains a chance of (winter) showers. The maximum temperatures will fluctuate around -4 degrees in the High Fens, +2 degrees in the center and +4 degrees in the northwest and on the coast, with a weak to moderate west to northwest wind.
Tonight There are clear skies in many places, although there is a chance of some winter showers, especially in Flanders. Ice spots or snow can make the roads slippery again. Freezing fog can occur in the Ardennes. The minimum temperatures are between -9 degrees in the High Fens (or even lower in some snow-covered Ardennes valleys) and +1 degree on the coast with a weak to moderate west to northwest wind, shrinking to the southwest.

Many Limburg schools will keep their gates closed today due to snowfall
Many Limburg secondary schools will close their gates tomorrow and skip one day of education due to the heavy snow. This is the case with the larger schools in Genk, Hasselt and Maasmechelen, among others. De Lijn not running is one of the main reasons for this decision. Read more about it here.

Code red is retained for Walloon roads
In Wallonia, code red remains on the road due to the weather forecasts. This was reported by the Walloon traffic authority CAR late on Wednesday evening. She advises everyone to “limit movements and remain very cautious if they have to hit the road in the coming hours, and in particular on Thursday morning during rush hour in Wallonia.”
Trucks longer than thirteen meters remain prohibited on certain traffic routesin particular the E25 motorway (A602-A26) between the Loncin and Massul junctions in both directions, and the E42 motorway (A27) between Verviers and Steinebruck in both directions.
The ban does not apply to passenger transport, such as buses, vehicles providing an urgent public service and vehicles equipped with a permanent automatic chain system.
“The purpose of this measure is to ensure the safety of motorists and truck drivers as best as possibleto facilitate gritting activities and keep traffic moving on regional roads,” CAS reiterates.
