The Philadelphia Eagles crashed to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in round one of the NFL playoffs. It’s the end of a crazy season for Philly and possibly the end of a Hall of Fame career.
At least that’s the impression you got when you looked into the glittering eyes of center Jason Kelce, who was extremely close to the end of his team.
On the Eagles’ final drive – the game had long since been decided – Kelce stayed on the sideline. Cameras captured the superstar and the spectators on the devices looked into a crying face, marked by the pain of bitter defeat.
But was it really just the defeat itself that bothered Kelce? There can now be much more speculation about the end of the 36-year-old’s career.
NFL: Kelce documentary should work towards ending career
Jason Kelce wanted to end his career last year. This fact is discussed several times in the Amazon documentary “Kelce”. The camera team followed the offensive lineman throughout the entire preseason, as it was supposed to be Jason Kelce’s last.
The reasons for this are primarily physical. Kelce has had to deal with a number of injuries in his career and said that he plays the entire season on anti-inflammatory medication.
After losing the Super Bowl last year, however, the idea of getting up for another year, starting a new attack and possibly saying goodbye with a triumph, arose.
After a 10-1 start to the season, it looked like this romantic fantasy could come true, but the Eagles’ downfall at the end of the regular season and their low point against the Bucs shattered that dream.
It could be an ignoble end to a great career, one can almost be sure. Because pictures sometimes say more than 1000 words.
