Tooske Ragas is this year’s best-known candidate of Wie is de Mol. She actually didn’t know the rest herself, the presenter admits in Superguide. “I had to google some too.”
Most celebrity shows these days are full of B and C stars, because the really big stars have run out after all these seasons or simply don’t want to participate. Tooske Ragas is this year’s best-known candidate of Wie is de Mol. Did she know the other candidates? No, except for a few, she actually had no idea either, she admits Veronica Superguide.
‘Who are you?’
Many candidates only become celebrities once they have participated in such a show as a celebrity. “Every time the names of the WIDM candidates are announced, the crowd shouts, ‘Well, I only know four!’ Did you know all the participants before you met them?” Superguide asks the presenter.
No, Tooske admits. “I had to google a few too, you know. You hear the names just before departure, so you get the opportunity to find out who is who. I recognized a few, but with some candidates I thought: okay, and who are you?”
‘Does not matter’
Actually, celebrity status doesn’t matter much, Tooske thinks. “The funny thing is: what everyone does at home in the Netherlands no longer matters as soon as you get into the game. So it was not at all interesting to us there in Mexico how often the person with his head appears on TV.”
What was Tooske’s excuse for the outside world to be away? “Well, it at least had to be a good story, because as a presenter of Shownieuws I am of course entering the lion’s den!”
On every list
There was also some distrust, according to Tooske. “People from the editorial staff said: ‘Your name is very often in those lists!’ Me: ‘Yes, my name is always, everywhere, on every list.’ And that’s right. I’m also mentioned every week on The Masked Singer. So I said, ‘It’s more noticeable if I’m not mentioned.’”
She continues laughing: “Then they accepted that as true and continued with their lives. Great that this turned out so well. The only downside is that no one will ever trust me again.”
