The Court of First Instance and Instruction number 2 of Noia (A Coruña) has agreed to initiate proceedings for the possible existence of a crime against natural resources and the environment due to the dumping of pellets on the Galician coast, after the loss of cargo of a ship off Portugal on December 8.

Thus, the judge has ordered the Nature Protection Service (Seprona) of the Civil Guard to send to the court a report containing “the data collected in relation to the ownership of the boat ‘Toconao’, the circumstances in which “in which the loss of the cargo occurred, the content of said cargo, the composition and possible toxicity of the spilled pellets, as well as the extent of the spill and the delimitation of the affected area.”
This performance comes after the complaint filed in recent days by Podemos, which has been added to by Fundación Montescola, Ecoloxistas en Acción and the Platform for the Defense of the Sea of the Muros-Noia Region.
