In the center of Poperinge there is a door-to-door collection by the technical service. Residents can also take their discarded Christmas tree to eight central collection points, and each sub-municipality also has one. Until 2015 there was a large Christmas tree burning on the Grote Markt, but now they process the trees in an environmentally friendly way.
“We are still busy collecting the trees all week. At the end of the week, IVVO will collect everything from the large locations, after which they will be processed into chopping and compost material,” says Arvid Neels of the green service in Poperinge.
