A new partnership, called NOORD, should give pop and hip-hop artists from the Northern Netherlands the opportunity to develop (inter)nationally. According to the organization, this is ‘a next step in the collaboration between Popfabryk, Stichting Kunst & Cultuur, POPgroningen, Noordstaat and Eurosonic Noorderslag.’
NOORD will receive an amount of 333,340 euros from the Performing Arts Fund for the new collaboration.
The above-mentioned parties previously worked together on the UpNorth and Hit the North development projects. These give new artists from Drenthe, Groningen and Friesland the opportunity to perform during the annual music festival Eurosonic Noorderslag (ESNS), which starts next Wednesday.
The Drenthe musicians Lisa Ploeger, Marit Nygård and Thyrza Postma can be seen there, who participated in the Hit the North program last year. In various sessions they learned more about stage presentation, marketing, management and finance, so that they are now ready to perform on an international stage.
The new collaboration will officially start during Popgala NOORD next Tuesday, where seven prizes will be awarded to Northern Dutch pop artists.
