Visitors to the Effenaar had to leave the concert hall just before one o’clock last night because there was a report of fire. There was smoke in rooms on the top floors, but it was unclear where the smoke came from.
The concert hall was evacuated and the fire brigade came to the Effenaar with several fire engines and an aerial platform. Visitors to the Effenaar were received in the Station Hall a little further down the street.
The fire brigade checked everything and after everything was safe, the fire brigade received applause from the visitors. They could then return to that evening’s concert, which lasted until 3 a.m.
It is not known exactly how many people were inside, the Effenaar offers space for around 1800 guests, spread over two rooms.
