Kiplagat, 34, was found dead in a car near the Kenyan town of Eldoret.
HE WAS STABBED IN THE CHEST AND NECK
It was stated that Kiplagat had stab wounds on his chest and neck.
Stephen Okal, one of the Kenyan police officials, said in his statement that two suspects were detained regarding the incident.
Okal said that one of the suspects was caught with a knife, which was considered to be a murder weapon. While it is unknown why Kiplagat was killed, investigations into the incident continue.
Kiplagat has represented Uganda internationally in the 3,000 meter steeplechase, including at various Olympic Games and World Championships.
