Finnish forward of the Swedish SHL club Luleå Juhani Tyrväinen got into a deer crash with his partner on Christmas Day, reports NSD and Swedish Radio.
Tyrväinen, 33, was returning with his girlfriend from Oulu when they hit a deer with their car on the road between Haaparanna and Sangis. The deer had run onto the road, and Tyrväinen’s partner who was driving the car did not have time to react.
The moose died immediately, but Tyrväinen and his girlfriend were fine.
– The accident was bad luck, but we also had a lot of speed. There were many people at the scene who knew what to do and called 911 and the hunters. Everything went smoothly in that regard. It could have been much worse, Tyrväinen said According to Aftonbladet.
– We have to be positive when we didn’t have to go to the hospital at all. The hunter said the same thing: usually when he gets a call, someone has died or needs an ambulance, Tyrväinen continued.
Tyrväinen, who won World Cup gold with the Lions in the spring of 2019, was happy that they didn’t get even minor injuries. They didn’t break any bones.
Tyrväinen is playing in Luleå for his fifth season and is one of the team’s most trusted players. He joined the club for the 2019–2020 season. In Finland, Tyrväinen has represented Helsinki IFK, Lahti Pelicans and Jokeris.
