Investigation into fireworks bomb in Boterveen completed, no suspect found

The police have completed the investigation into the exploded fireworks bomb in the Boterveen hamlet near Dwingeloo. The investigation has not yielded any suspects.

During Christmas night, heavy fireworks exploded under the windshield wipers of the car of Inge Dijkinga and Hans van der Zee in Boterveen. They suspect that it is an attack related to their opposition to the use of poisons in lily cultivation. “We have had to deal with intimidation before,” Dijkinga said.

She and her partner are affiliated with AARDige neighbors, a group of residents of Boterveen who oppose the use of poison in lily cultivation. The group does not feel heard by the government. The result is that they try to enforce their right through the courts. Dijkinga: “The way things are going now, it is encouraging polarization.”

Dijkinga and Van der Zee filed a report, but the police investigation did not yield any concrete results. There were no witnesses on Christmas night and there are also no traces in the yard. There were camera images. According to Dijkinga, it showed a gray Volkswagen Caddy driving away. But according to the police, the images ultimately yielded nothing.

A spokesperson said that the police will continue to monitor the situation. The investigation will be reopened if new information arises. There will be no additional surveillance for the time being.
