Former Karstadt boss Stephan Fanderl will leave the Düsseldorf clothing retailer Peek & Cloppenburg at the end of the year.
The company confirmed corresponding media reports on Thursday at the request of FashionUnited. The 60-year-old most recently worked within the group as Chief Strategy & Retail Development Officer at Zug-based JC Switzerland Holding AG.
Fanderl joined Peek & Cloppenburg KG Düsseldorf at the beginning of 2021 and was responsible for the areas of corporate development, logistics and expansion as well as Europe-wide sales. In August 2022, he moved to his current position in the management team of JC Switzerland Holding, which was founded a few months earlier. His responsibilities included “long-term growth, strategic partnerships and the development of new retail business models,” the company explained on the occasion of the appointment.
Before his time at Peek & Cloppenburg, Fanderl led the department store operator Karstadt and its successor company Galeria Karstadt Kaufhof as CEO from 2014 to summer 2020. Over the course of his long career, he also held various management positions at renowned international retailers such as Metro Group, Rewe and Walmart.
