Jan Slagter is clearly still not happy that Ilja Gort has left his Omroep MAX in discord. He is very nasty to the winegrower on television. “His goatee is already too much!”
Ilja Gort was a face of Omroep MAX for years, but that went wrong at some point. He had a disagreement with boss Jan Slagter and therefore decided to leave for AvroTros: “It happened quite often that I was urgently asked to take the broadcaster’s target group into account. But ‘taking into account’ doesn’t really suit me.”
‘Done with it’
Well, you clearly shouldn’t say that to Jan’s face. Seven and a half years later, he apparently still harbors feelings of resentment against Ilja, as becomes apparent when the broadcaster is a guest on the talk show. Van Roosmalen & Groenteman.
When a fragment from Ilja’s program on AvroTros is shown, Jan remarks falsely: “That was ours, but it has been rejected. At some point you’re done with that.”
‘Goatee is too much’
When Marcel van Roosmalen then starts a tirade about how Ilja is always very much, Jan sneers: “His goatee is a lot!”
And now he is at AvroTros. “Yes, I warned them,” said Jan.
Jan of course hides behind the wink, but it is clear how he feels about Ilja. He happily joins in with the men at the table, who at one point call Ilja ‘incredibly annoying’.
‘Do you understand?’
Marcel after a fragment: “That’s why you rejected this, Jan?”
Jan: “Do you understand?”
Gijs: “I don’t understand why you ever started doing it.”
Jan: “Yes, I actually don’t understand that either. No, yes, well, it’s a bit of an act, yes, pff… A bit over the top.”
Reason for breakage
Gijs then manages to uncover the reason for the break with Ilja: “Ilya Gort like that, have you ever told him the truth?”
Jan: “Ehhh… Well, it did bother me at one point… We have an agreement at MAX that we don’t swear on air. Then you start shaking, but we think that… Older people don’t like that. And he did that quite a lot and I said something about that. That’s really the only thing.”
