Last week, the council of aldermen went on a site visit to the so-called Hoost project, after a new case of damage had surfaced, a sewer break in Stadhuisstraat. The whole case has been dragging on for over a year now. Knokke-Heist is now taking steps to reach a settlement with the insurance company more quickly.
Astrid Mestdach, acting mayor of Knokke-Heist: “The fact that we are now taking charge of the file ourselves does not mean that there is no confidence in the client. Absolutely not. We just want to better support the local residents, who have been in misery for more than a year. That is the intention of the municipal council. We will write to local residents with a step-by-step plan on how our experts can give them advice. Then it should finally be possible to close that file. Normally we have agreed with Artes that we want to give everyone a ready and clear answer by the end of March 2024.
