‘Hit in theater, flop on TV’

Remco Veldhuis and Richard Kemper have been a success in the theater for years, but they don’t really succeed on television. They scored abysmally again last night, according to Tina Nijkamp.

They are one of the best-known duos in the country: Veldhuis & Kemper, but unfortunately Remco Veldhuis and Richard Kemper are unable to convert that into resounding viewing figures. They were on the air last night at half past ten with their show Hou Dat Vast, immediately after the ratings hit Even Tot Hier on NPO 1, but they scored very poorly.

Runaways

Ratings authority Tina Nijkamp devotes an entire one story on her analysis channel. “Some stars are ratings magnets such as Ruben Nicolai, Özcan Akyol or Gerard Joling. They always score good viewing figures,” she explains. “Some other stars have the opposite effect.”

Tina calls those stars ‘rating runaways’. “Veldhuis & Kemper is perhaps the best-known example. It is inexplicable why this happens, because they play to sold-out crowds, but unfortunately they almost never achieve high viewing figures.”

Flop after flop

Veldhuis & Kemper are a ratings drama, Tina knows. “After years of adventures at SBS 6 (about fifteen years with many panel shows that flopped and registrations) and RTL in between, Jan Slagter from Omroep Max now takes care of them, but no high viewing figures there either.”

Yesterday, 432 thousand people watched the registration of Hou Dat Vast. “Unfortunately. After an influx of 1.8 million viewers for Even tot Hier. As many as 1.4 million people zapped away.”

Back in April

Even Tot Hier once again achieved fantastic viewing figures, but, Tina says: “No linear record figures this season. The first episode scored the highest linearly with almost 2 million viewers. The gentlemen will not be back until April 6.”

And that has everything to do with Arjen Lubach. He can be seen with his Evening Show for ten weeks from January 22.
