New race against time for cutter

Skipper Ed Reker of the towed cutter is in a new race against time. The Black Jack was stuck on the beach of Zandvoort for three weeks. Last weekend it works on the fourth try to refloat the fishing boat. The ship is now in its home port of IJmuiden and is being repaired. But that has to happen quickly, Ed’s daughter Lisette explains in this report.

Since November 22, two things have gripped North Holland: the election results and Ed Reker’s cutter stranded in Zandvoort.

An ancient nautical wisdom did not quite apply to this issue: beware four times was the charm during the attempts to refloat the cutter.
