Japan is aligning the season start dates of domestic football leagues with those of European and Asian football leagues and tournaments.
The decision regarding the draft amendment, which was discussed by a total of 60 clubs in the J1, J2 and J3 leagues last week, was announced to the public.
The J.League Board of Directors announced that the traditional February start of local football seasons will be moved to August as of 2026.
