Msurrogate motherhood and female self-defense are at the center of the latest episode of Le Iene 2023 (broadcast tonight at 9.20pm on Italy 1). The host is Veronica Gentili supported by Max Angioni.

Among the services offered, a reportage on a hot topic, which has long been a protagonist of the political debate and beyond. That is, surrogacy. It is packaged by Hyena Gaston Zama and Paola Barale. On Instagram a short preview is available. «Are we engaged or married? We are lovers, which is the most beautiful phase”, says Barale to Zama, as they prepare to leave.

Regarding the reasons why couples turn to surrogacy, Barale admits that «I don’t know how to take a position on this». Specifically, he then states: «I’m not sure if you can choose your biological mother. You are a sperm donor, shall we take an egg donor, a woman who carries out the pregnancy? These are all things we don’t know. One, even without knowing, judges». Zama’s comment: «And what is the best way to understand how things work?». The response from the traveling companion arrives promptly: «Experiencing them».
With this mantra, they leave for the Ukrainian capital, where they collect the testimony of women who, for a fee, give birth to children on behalf of other people. In Ukraine, surrogacy is regulated by law and is practiced in some specialized clinics. And tonight Barale and Zama document various aspects for viewers, from ethical to emotional ones, passing through the no less important legal aspects.

In addition to motherhood, Le Iene 2023 chooses to address the scourge of violence against women by focusing on female self-defense courses. In a historical moment in which cases of femicide occupy the pages of crime news on a daily basis, the Italia 1 program focuses on a useful tool for potential victims.
Veronica Gentili is the protagonist of a space in which she supports a self-defense teacher. A short course, that is, of rules and techniques useful for defending oneself in case one is a victim of aggression or violence.

In addition to the pressing current affairs, there is also room for entertainment. Pio and Amedeo and former NBA basketball player Luigi Datome arrive in the studio. The Foggia comedians return just over a year after their last guest appearance. On that occasion they lent themselves to Bad mouththe game in which the interviewee describes the strengths and weaknesses of people he has dealt with during his career, but without revealing their identity.
