The auction house Sotheby’s has a new editor-in-chief.
Kristina O’Neill takes on the newly created role of Head of Sotheby’s Media and Editor-in-Chief of Sotheby’s Magazine.
O’Neill joins Sotheby’s from WSJ Magazine, the print and digital platform of the US financial newspaper Wall Street Journal. As Editor-in-Chief, she was responsible for the publication of all editorial content.
At Sotheby’s she will now lead the transformation of Sotheby’s Magazine. In particular, by increasing frequency, distribution and readership, the magazine is expected to enter a new era as a leading lifestyle publication, according to the statement. O’Neill’s responsibilities will also include launching a special event for the magazine, scheduled for the first time in fall 2024.
The company’s media division, which, like the magazine, will be led by O’Neill, will be launched as an international omnichannel content platform that will include digital, audio and video elements.
“Sotheby’s target audience is indeed exceptional – sophisticated, with a deep appreciation for art, style, design and culture, which aligns with my passions,” said O’Neill. “As head of the new media division, I am excited by the prospect of connecting deeper with our audience through a luxury magazine, innovative digital offerings and a range of events and experiences.”
