In the last days, Netflix had announced an increase in its rates for January of the following year. However, taking into account the devaluation of the official dollar and the new economic and commercial provisions presented by the government this Tuesday, the streaming service modified the value planned for 2024 and presented new costs with a strong increase.
According to an estimated calculation from the main streaming platform, the Basic Plan will rise to 2,499 pesos, giving a total of 3,973 pesos, including taxes. The Standard Plan will be set at 4,199 pesos, which with taxes will be 6,676 pesos and, finally, the Premium Plan of 5,799 pesos will be worth 9,220 pesos with taxes.
These new prices in the service are due to the devaluation of the official dollar and the rest of the measures announced by the Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo, in its “economic urgency” package. The proposal caused an escalation of the “dollar card” of up to 1,280 pesos, with which payments for services from foreign companies, such as the Netflix streaming platform, are calculated.
As announced by the economic portfolio, the new value of the so-called “card dollar” will be composed of a 30 percent of the PAIS Tax and 30 percent of Profits (eliminating the personal property tax)which will be added to the new price of the official dollar at 800 pesos. A significant increase in which the user must review the convenience of watching series and movies on demand.
