A film between Look Who’s Talking and a cartoon
Scripted and directed by Fausto Brizzi, Bla Bla Baby it’s first thing a film that is seen too rarely in Italy. The director of Night before exams in fact he chooses to mix, with excellent results, a myriad of genres and quotes from past. Sentimental comedy, heist moviespecial effects and cult movie the nineties.
As Look Who’s Talking with John Travolta – of which it might seem like an undeclared remake. Except that in Amy Hackerling’s film – released in 1989 – the children’s voices were heard only by the viewer and not by the characters. While here Alessandro Preziosi not only “translates” the children’s verses into Italian, he establishes real dialogues with them.
In fact, the film remains a very classic rom-comlike many created in the past by Brizzi, but the director is not afraid to hybridize the canons of sentimental plot. Thus enriching his now consolidated style new and “technological” nuancesalso thanks to the excellent CGI effects.
Special praise also goes to Alessandro Preziosian actor usually used in dramatic roles that can here show off a comedic talent never experienced before.
An unprecedented role for Alessandro Preziosi
Neapolitan born in 1973, Preziosi is perhaps one of the very few to have removed the “TV drama” actor label to become one highly esteemed actor of cinema and theater.
Exploded in 2003 thanks to the historical miniseries Elisa of Rivombrosa – where on set falls in love with Vittoria Puccini –, over the years he distances himself from the roles of the beautiful and the damned and works for important directors like Roberto Faenza, Ferzan Özpetek and Pappi Corsicato. Alternating sets with more prestigious Italian stagesperforming plays of Shakespeare, Goldoni and Moliére.
Private life, however, is more tortuous. After a relationship with the dancer Rossella Zito, with whom he has the eldest son Edoardo born in 1995, with Vittoria Puccini love lasts until 2010, crowned in 2006 by the birth of daughter Elena. Then the stormy separation and love for her young student Greta Carandini but this time too the relationship ends after a few years.
After a summer flirtation (much paparazzi) with Delfina Delettrez-FendiToday it seems that the actor is single again since the two stopped following each other on social media.
