Antje Döll also quickly recognized what needed to be improved despite the recent very confident 31:21 win against Serbia. “If we want to survive against strong teams like Denmark, we have to make better use of our chances and improve our throwing effectiveness,” the 35-year-old made clear. In the quarter-finals, Germany could then face co-hosts Sweden or Montenegro. The desired participation in an Olympic qualifying tournament next year has now been secured. “It’s awesome. We worked hard for it today,” Markus Gaugisch said happily: “We’re super happy. We still have room for improvement and want to play for medals,” emphasized left winger Antje Döll.
