Since the start of the invasion, Orban has repeatedly resisted providing Kiev with financial and military support. The president, who has close ties to the Kremlin, also threatened to block Ukraine’s accession to the EU. “That is only possible if European leaders revise their entire strategy in the conflict,” it said.
The Hungarian president’s press secretary confirmed the meeting. “Orban indicated that European Union member states are constantly discussing accession,” he wrote in an email. A senior official said on Friday that the EU would find ways to financially support Ukraine even if Hungary vetoed the move.
