The Venezuelan government has proposed that neighboring Guyana hold a “high-level” meeting to discuss the conflict over the oil-rich border region of Essequibo. According to media in Georgetown, Guyanese President Mohamed Irfaan Ali has agreed to this. The summit is scheduled for December 14.
