Brazilian metal band Sepultura is calling it quits. The band announces the end of their story in a post on their website in the bulletin.

The band, founded in 1984, ends its career with a spectacular farewell tour. During the year and a half world tour, Sepultura will be celebrating their 40th anniversary.

During the tour, the band plans to record live versions of their 40 songs in 40 different cities. The live recordings will be released later in the form of a compilation album.

– We are happy and truly grateful for everything we have been able to witness in the past four decades. We’ve released great albums and played unforgettable gigs, formed friendships, met our idols, helped put Brazilian metal on the world map. With that, we feel that we can leave the music world with the feeling that we have fulfilled our duty, the band says in its announcement.

Sepultura compares its termination decision to euthanasia, i.e. euthanasia.

– The right to a dignified death. The right to decide to live freely and to decide when to die, the notice ends.
