Mikko Parikka is known from the series The Secret Lives, but this spring he will be seen in a completely new role in the wash of the Bachelor program presenter.
Mikko Parikka, 33, sits casually on the couch of the café. Just before the scheduled meeting, he picked up coffee with him, and there was an encounter that Mikko is used to.
An unknown man bonged him and stated that the man is Jiri Viitamäki, known from Salkkari. Mikko says that he kindly acknowledged his situation, saying: “The same man.”
The truth is that Mikko’s 11-year wash in Salkkari ended a couple of years ago, but in the minds of Finns, Jiri still exists. Mikko does not consider this to be any burden when throwing upstairs with people from time to time.

– It’s more of an advantage to me that people remember me for something. If the Salkkarit stamp spoils me, then it’s exactly the same, I wear it with a pretty proud stamp, Mikko says and smiles.
And Salkkare is also to be thanked for meeting his wife in the past Sara Parikanwho also starred in the series for a long time.
– Or at least I wouldn’t have had any chance with him without the Salkkari! Mikko laughs.
Leap in the dark
In the summer of 2019, a third child was expected in the Pariko family. Mikko had an 11-year wash in Salkkari at the time, and he said it would be a great opportunity to stay on paternity leave and focus on family life.
The couple have a successful business producing lifestyle content, and the idea that the division of labor in childcare and work would be handled differently for the third child than before seemed teasing.
– When the summer vacation ended, in the first working week I announced in Salkkari that I would stop. I thought then that maybe now is the time for someone new, Mikko recalls.

Once the decision to leave was made, Mikko’s calendar was empty and the intention was to run the company together.
However, the dream of working as a presenter came to mind. There had been a lot of experience working with the camera, but the idea of a new kind of role in front of the camera was appealing.
Mikko had recently joked to a colleague who had also directed Bachelor behind the scenes of Salkkare that he would be happy to start the program sometime in the future. The utterance uttered aloud soon rose to an unpredictable value.
– When I had announced that I would quit in Salkkari, it went into style for three weeks, and I was called from the production company that we wanted to test shoot you for a Bachelor presenter washed up. Then I went for test shots and after a few test shots I was told I was getting a wash.

When Mikko heard that he had been chosen as Bachelor’s presenter, it turned out that this year’s program stand means exactly two programs. In addition to the traditional episodes, she was assigned a Bachelor: After the Rose discussion program, which discusses the events of the episodes with the performers of the program.
– I personally think that the most important thing was that I got the channel convinced that I can present, and I don’t just present or act as a presenter. It was just a plus that I kind of got twice the experience with it.
A new role
Mikko made his first plots last fall in Rhodes, and the reminiscence of the filming weeks still raises a smile on his face. The work experience had been preceded by performance training as an actor Jaana Saarinen in a pinch. From the beginning, Mikko had the feeling that he was in the right place.
– My most important lesson in the whole pest has been that I don’t start thinking about what is being asked of me. In the role of presenter, I must be myself, and I must not be in any role. And I told the channel that I want to do the work in my own style, and if that’s not enough, then I won’t do it.

And that was enough.
– It was really hot at the beginning, but still natural. The program itself is really familiar to me, and I think it made it easier to do. Now I have that kind of Honeymoon phase on, and I feel like I want to do more of this, Mikko laughs.
The man familiar with it on television can’t get excited about the audience’s reaction to his first appearance as presenter.
– And it’s because I know infrequently that some likes and some hate. It has always been the same in Salkkare. It is useless to start focusing on either extreme. If someone says I’m the best in the world, then I say thank you and if someone says I’m the shit in the world, I say okay. The most important thing for me is what I think of myself.
The feeling that the new conquest was worth doing recently has been strengthened recently. And not least because Mikko is particularly pleased with his own work at Bachelor.
INKA SOVERI
– When I saw those first episodes, I was frankly satisfied. I am really proud of that and I feel successful. If someone else is not satisfied, then it is not important to me, because I know that I have done my job well, Mikko states and flashes a wide smile.
