South American countries want “peaceful solution” for Venezuela and Guyana | Abroad

In a press release signed by the members of Mercosur (Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay) and Chile, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru, these countries urge “both sides to engage in dialogue and seek a peaceful solution (…) to avoid unilateral initiatives that could worsen the situation’.

“Latin America must become an area of ​​peace,” the signatory countries added. The statement came at the end of a Mercosur meeting in Rio de Janeiro. “We do not want war in South America,” said Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. “We don’t need conflict.”
