Germany with outsider chances – no Austria and Switzerland at the start
While Austria and Switzerland do not have any relay teams, the German team can hope for an outside chance of reaching the podium. If everything fits together, the team consisting of Brugger, Kuchler, Moch and Sossau can potentially finish third.
What is particularly pleasing is the return of the currently best German Friedrich Moch, who takes on the third part. He will have to do good preparatory work because the young Sossau will have a difficult time as the last runner against the strong competitors. With Brugger and Kuchler, Germany has two established classic runners on the first two legs.
Somewhat surprisingly, Florian Notz was not included in the squad. He and Jan Stoelben have to support him from the side of the track.

Open battle for the podium
The fight for the podium will be a very open and tough fight. Several relay teams have a chance of running for the podium. There is no favorite for third place. Finland, Italy, the USA and the second season of Sweden are definitely worth mentioning. But Germany and the Czech Republic also have a chance on a good day.

Favorite role clearly assigned
If you look at the start list, Norway is clearly the favorite. The start of the Norwegian relay is yesterday’s winner, Pål Golberg. The winner of Ruka’s individual start, Martin Løwstrøm Nyenget, takes on the second part. Simen Hegstad Krüger will be the third runner and thus in freestyle for the favorite relay. The finale will be the winner of the Ruka mass start: Jan Thomas Jenssen.
The role of favorite should therefore be clearly defined, at least on paper. The Swedes in particular are likely to have something against this. They will try to counteract this with Haeegstroem, Halfvarsson, Johannson and Anger.

Welcome!
Hello and welcome to the men’s relay race on the first Advent. The relay marks the end of the World Cup weekend in Gällivare. After the two individual races over 10km yesterday and the women’s relay this morning, it is now the men’s turn at 12 p.m. It’s 4x 7.5km. The first two runners run classically while runners three and four complete the course in freestyle. There will be a total of twelve seasons at the start. Relays from Sweden and the USA are represented twice.
