The meeting between Shirin David and Thomas Gottschalk on “Wetten,dass..?” provided meme material.
Shirin David and Helene Fischer released a new version of Fischer’s hit “Atemlos” on November 24th. In this context, the duo were guests on Thomas Gottschalk’s last “Wetten,dass..?” broadcast. But in addition to promoting the song, both of them also had a lot to do with responding appropriately to Gottschalk’s comments. Shirin David now used her Instagram account to position herself for the TV evening.
“On occasion”
Shirin David commented on her appearance on “Wetten,dass..?” not with words, but with a photo collage in her Instagram story. In the upper area there was a screenshot of Gottschalk and her on the “Wetten,dass..?” couch and below there was a screenshot of a clip that she is currently including in her live show. The 28-year-old appears in a fake interview situation and even slips into both parts – the arrogant rapper and the unprepared interviewer.
The Hamburg native later shared the entire fake interview video again on her Instagram feed and in her Instagram story – although she left the former uncommented and wrote in the story: “on occasion”.
David did not explicitly say whether this was an allusion to Thomas Gottschalks and the conversation with him. But when Gottschalk told her that the German rapper’s enthusiasm for opera music would not be obvious, nor would the fact that she was a feminist, Shirin David reacted extensively: “I would like to say that as feminists we can look good, be smart and… eloquent and beautiful at the same time. The one does not exclude the other.”
