Stichting Dorpshuis Jonkersvaart is realizing a village house in the building at 49a Jonkersvaart in Jonkersvaart. She will take over the former school building from the municipality of Westerkwartier on 4 March.

Until mid-2018, the building at Jonkersvaart 49a was used as a primary school (‘t Jonkertje) and (partly) as a village room for Jonkersvaart. When the school ceased to exist, the building came into the possession of the former municipality of Marum.

The Stichting Dorpshuis Jonkersvaart wants to develop social, cultural and community activities in the village hall: village gatherings at Easter, Sinterklaas and Christmas, general members’ meetings, New Year’s receptions, yoga and gymnastics activities, film screenings, choir rehearsals, darts and cards.

The former school classrooms are merged into a larger space, which can be divided into smaller spaces.
