Darts star Michael van Gerwen with a crazy record show

Michael van Gerwen is flexing his muscles a few weeks before the start of the Darts World Cup. At the Players Championship Finals, the Dutchman excelled in round two with a record average.

Michael van Gerwen scored an average of 118.52 points per shot in a duel with Englishman Ross Smith (6:1). The three-time world champion thus set a new record average for the Players Championship Finals.

What’s more: According to “Darts Oracle”, van Gerwen has never achieved a higher score in this category in a TV match. It was the second highest average that the 34-year-old has ever played in the PDC. “MvG’s” career has been long and successful.

In his subsequent round of 16 match against the Belgian Mario Vandenbogaerde, the darts star also showed no weakness. Van Gerwen won the legs confidently with 10:6 on Saturday evening.

Darts: Van Gerwen one of the World Cup favorites

The Dutchman wants to win his third major victory of the year at the Players Championship Finals. At the Grand Slam of Darts, “Mighty Mike” was eliminated in the round of 16 against Damon Heta from Australia.

At the World Championships in London’s Alexandra Palace (from December 15th), the right-hander will once again be one of the favorites. The competition here is perhaps greater than ever before. In addition to former champions like Peter Wright and Gerwyn Price, youngsters like Luke Humphries are now shaking up the PDC tour.

Darts: Clemens also in the quarterfinals

From a German perspective, Gabriel Clemens is causing a stir. “Gaga” is also in the semi-finals of the Players Championship Finals and will face Luke Woodhouse there.

Martin Schindler and Ricardo Pietreczko, the other two German starters, have already been eliminated in Minehead, England.
