A total of 64 different species of birds were ringed this time. The most commonly ringed species was the blackcap. The top three was completed by reed warblers and reed warblers. The robin, which was at number two last year, dropped out of the top three. This is due to the changeable weather from the end of September. There were also striking numbers of Cetti’s warbler (158 individuals), garden warbler (413), warbler (178), firecrest (111), willow warbler (139), collared redstart (45) and nightingale (31).
“By working in the same way every year, a very valuable dataset will eventually be collected, which should further improve our insights into the migratory behavior of birds,” Zwin said.
