Gladbach wants a historic victory at BVB

Mönchengladbach coach Gerardo Seoane wants to celebrate his first win in nine years in Dortmund in the Borussia duel on Saturday.

“We want to tackle this challenge through courageous play with the ball, aggressiveness and intensity,” he said on Thursday. The Gladbach team last won 2-1 at BVB in March 2014.

In Dortmund, however, working for Seoane will be different than usual. “I am aware that it will be more difficult to give instructions in Dortmund because of the noise.”

In order to take points, you need a team effort, speed in the transition game and “the willingness to work defensively”. However, the coach warned about BVB’s good counter-pressing: “We want to challenge them with our qualities on the ball.”

The Gladbachers are traveling to the Ruhr area before the international break with the wind behind them from a 4-0 win against VfL Wolfsburg – with returnee Jordan there. “He took part in all the sessions this week and is 100 percent available again,” said Seoane about the striker. Central defender Ko Itakura should also be back in the game.

The Gladbachers are currently in ninth place in the table with 13 points. The shape curve points upwards. Points are possible against BVB, which has recently been weak in the league.
