Pamela David He dropped a bombshell on Sunday morning, hours after the polls opened. On her Twitter account, the television host assured that Sergio Masshis eventual Minister of Economy would have, if he were elected president: Horacio Rodríguez Larreta. His message quickly became a trend, but was denied by the partner of the head of the Buenos Aires Government, Milagros Maylin.
“Last night I had lunch with Sergio Massa,” the partner of businessman Daniel Vila wrote on Twitter. And he completed: “If he is elected president, his Minister of Economy will be Horacio Rodríguez Larreta.” The message generated noise in both the ruling party and the opposition.
In a few minutes, it became one of the most talked about topics in the middle of the 2023 runoff. But the denial quickly came, from the hand of the Buenos Aires mayor’s partner.
“Last night I ate with Horacio Rodríguez Larreta,” he wrote on Instagram Milagros Maylin paraphrasing David. And he completed: “He told me that he will never be part of a Kirchnerist government. Milanese with puree, as almost always.”
There is a decades-long friendship between Larreta and Massa. The leaders usually talk and in fact, because of that relationship, the mayor was accused on several occasions of playing for the ruling party. That message struck at the heart of the criticism that was made of him, even by many PRO leaders, which is why his partner was quick to contradict the television host.
10 days ago, Massa had anticipated that he would choose an opposition Economy Minister. That’s why Pamela David’s announcement resonated even stronger. “My Minister of Economy is not going to be someone from my political force, he is going to be someone from another political sector,” the candidate had indicated in an interview with Cadena 3.
