Botero’s pietas

Created in collaboration with the Antioquia Museum in Medellín, which preserves an important body of work by the Colombian artist, Botero. Way of the cross (a cycle of 60 works including oils and drawings) investigates the relationship between the sculptor-painter and religion.

Living matter

Three locations to tell and celebrate their particular relationship with the Emilian city and the work of two brilliant artists, Giampaolo Bertozzi and Stefano Dal Monte Casonifriends who have always been capable of revolutionizing the concept of contemporary ceramics with a skilful, at times incredible, manipulation of the material.

The exhibition project Bertozzi & Casoni. Tranche de vie proposes around thirty works that date back to the last twenty years of activity and which “dialogue” in a suggestive way with the environments and the collection of the historic eighteenth-century palace.

In essence. 1980-1997however, collects around 60 works – some monumental – which testify to the evolution of the expressive language which passes through complex processes and the study of new materials.

Timeless myth

The Teatro alla Scala celebrates the myth of Maria Callas one hundred years after his birth by presenting the exhibition Phantasmagoria Callasa new exhibition project curated by Francesco Stocchi, featuring five voices from the contemporary artistic panorama.

On the occasion of the hundredth anniversary of her birth, the Teatro alla Scala pays homage to Maria Callas with an exhibition conceived to celebrate his myth, evoking the indelible mark he left on the collective imagination.

The exhibition builds an itinerary divided into five stages where each chapter is entrusted to a different artistic expression.

Through the stylist’s interpretation Giorgio Armaniof the musician and composer Alvin Curran, of contemporary artists Latifa Echakhch and Francesco Vezzoli and the recorder Mario Martonethe figure of Maria Callas emerges from a choral and multidisciplinary narrative, designed specifically for the occasion.

The title of the exhibition refers to the theatrical form of “phantasmagoria”, which traditionally deploys scenic illusions to recreate ghostly effects and supernatural visions, to convey the impression of the multiple traces, influences and testimonies that Maria Callas has been able to inspire over time.
