Janny Knol becomes chief of police. The Council of Ministers has approved the nomination for appointment on the proposal of Minister Yeşilgöz-Zegerius of Justice and Security. The appointment takes effect on March 1, 2024.
Janny Knol succeeds Henk van Essen, who has been chief of police at the police since 2020.
JC (Janny) Knol MA has broad experience within the police. She has been police chief of East Netherlands since February 2022. Previously, she was deputy police chief of the Northern Netherlands and a member of the East Netherlands unit leadership. She started her career in 1990 as an officer at the Deventer municipal police.
Janny Knol obtained a master’s degree in Strategic Leadership from the School for Police Leadership/NSOB. She followed the ABD Candidate Program in 2018 and 2019.
