An acquaintance of a couple called the police to an apartment in Niederschönhausen on Thursday afternoon.

The emergency services arrived there shortly after 1 p.m. They then found the 66-year-old resident and his 61-year-old wife dead in the apartment in an apartment building on Waldowstrasse.

Everything points to a homicide. The investigators assume that the woman first killed her husband and then herself. Investigations were started on site by the homicide squad of the State Criminal Police Office.

The Berlin public prosecutor’s office has ordered an autopsy of the bodies. The investigation is ongoing.
