A man from Halsteren will go to jail for ten months for sexually abusing two girls from Halsteren and Tholen in Zeeland. The court in Breda has determined this. The 27-year-old man is also not allowed to contact his victims for as long as the Justice Department deems it necessary. The man may only come near other minors if there is adult supervision. His victims were 14 and 12 when they came into contact with him.
After serving the prison sentence, the man must be admitted to a clinic for two years, the judge also decided. If he commits another crime within a three-year probationary period, he will be sentenced to another ten months in prison. Both victims will receive compensation of more than 4,300 euros from him.
According to the judge, he should have known that his victims were minors. The man had contact with the girl from Halsteren from the beginning of October last year until the beginning of January. During one of their encounters, he jerked off in her presence and asked her to show her breasts to him. After he was released from pre-trial detention, he made out with the Zeelander for months.
Like the public prosecutor, the court finds it proven that the man from Halsteren approached his victims online in a misleading manner. They were also put under pressure and there was sexual assault. The ultimate goal was to be able to make a sex appointment. This way of making contact via the internet is also known as grooming.
Child pornography and sexually explicit images of himself were also found on the man. The judge stated that he must avoid child pornography from now on. The sentence also included the fact that he was in illegal possession of an air pistol.
